There are 36 entries in the guide to the Swedish capital, incorporating our usual range of interests: good food and coffee, cultural pursuits and shops. There's Biologika Museet, a 19th-century natural history museum of staggering strangeness, rainwear from Stutterheim, salty caramel from Pärlans Konfektyr and intimate eating at Bakfickan.

Viewed from above, this watery city of 14 islands appears complex and hard to navigate, but on ground level the picture is quite different, human in scale.
