Description
When someone you love passes on, what do you do? Final Rounds: On Love, Loss, Life, and Lefse is a touching story of a 12-year-old girl’s creative response.
Little surprise that my first novel, Final Rounds: On Love, Loss, Life, and Lefse, has lotsa lefse—like 630 rounds—but that’s just the start. The novel is a joyous, coming-of-age book about loss and the everlasting relationship between Amaya and her grandfather. He has passed away at the opening of the book, and the story centers on Amaya’s memories of one funny, unforgettable snowbound night of lefse making with Papa—a night rounded out with learning his eight goofy rules of life and a rescue on horseback. Grieving is longingly looking back as well as lovingly looking ahead to try to answer this age-old question: When a loved one dies, what can you do?
